What is DustyNotes

Record Your Observations
RimLife DustyNotes gives you the ability to record and save your observations, images, and notes about birds, butterflies, plants and other living things into your Java-enabled mobile device such as cellphones and PDAs (like Palm Pilots or BlackBerrys) no matter where you are.

View Checklists and Keys
View animal and plant checklists and keys in your PDA or cellphone. This is great for hikers and naturalists who like to explore the outdoors. You can store these checklists in your PDA or phone and consult them wherever you are! You can also select species from the checklists and they will automatically be moved into your records. For example, if you spot a species of beetle and see it on a checklist, you can simply select that species in the checklist and it will be moved over as one of your observation records. No need for messy manual input.

Share with family, friends, and colleagues
These observations can be stored indefinitely in your mobile device or you can email them to yourself. You can also upload the data to the internet so you can share them with your family, friends, and colleagues.

Once the data have been uploaded, people in a group can view all their observations as a map with data points on their PCs. Different groups can also view each others maps so the national distributions of animal or plant species can be created by the combined groups.

Monitor and Record Temperature, Light, and other Environment Variables

You can check and record many different environment variables such as temperature, light, and even motion by using DustyNotes integration with SunSPOTs. For more information on SunSPOTs, click the link below:
